Sam Jay

Emmy-nominated writer, stand-up comic, and actor Sam Jay is best known as the host and executive producer of HBO’s “Pause with Sam Jay”, a late-night series. Her latest stand-up special, “Sam Jay: Salute Me or Shoot Me”, also airs on HBO. Sam had a standout role in Netflix’s “You People” alongside Jonah Hill, Eddie Murphy, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, as well as in the Peacock series, “Bust Down”, which she co-created with Langston Kerman, Jak Knight, and Chris Redd. A two-time Emmy and WGA Award nominee for her work on “Saturday Night Live”, Sam has also written for the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards, MTV Movie & TV Awards, and the BET Awards. Named one of Variety’s ‘10 Comics to Watch’ in 2018 and a Comedy Central ‘Comic to Watch’ in 2015, she was honoured as a BET Her Awards Pride Honoree. In 2022, she served as the “Voice of God” announcer at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards and appeared in Netflix’s “Stand Out: An LGBTQ+ Celebration”. Sam’s debut Netflix special, “Sam Jay: 3 in the Morning”, premiered in 2020. She has performed internationally at festivals and comedy clubs, including the Vodafone Dublin Comedy Festival, New York Comedy Festival, Bumbershoot Festival and many others.
